FREE ACTIVITIES NEAR KALAMAZOO FOR KIDS

Lexington Green Park | Portage

This summer pedal over to the outdoor bike park/ pump track located in the northeast section of the City of Portage. The pump track was recently put into Lexington Green Park, one of the oldest parks in Portage. Some recent changes include the addition of a bike pump track.

What is a pump park? If you’re unfamiliar with a pump park, it’s a continuous loop of berms, mounds and swoopy turns ridden without peddling. Instead the rider will use a pumping motion using his/her upper and lower body as they travel around the track and over obstacles. The main idea is to use a pump motion to maintain speed around the track without pedaling. It’s fun for everyone and quite the workout!

Amenities include baseball/softball fields, basketball courts, the bicycle skills course, picnic shelters, tennis/pickleball courts, and a walking trail. The 23 acre park is set in a wooded area in a neighborhood that has a half mile nature trail loop through the woods. Access to the park is from Pittsford and Belard streets.
