Learn Hands On Science at Impressions 5 Science Center: Lansing, Michigan

Impressions 5 Science Center in Lansing, Michigan makes science fun for the everyone!

Located in downtown Lansing, Impressions 5 is an ideal place to visit for the whole family, especially on rainy days or in winter. There are tons of different exhibits that will keep children and adults engaged.

As soon as you walk through the doors you will find a giant sized eyeball to climb inside and discover the intricacies inside our own bodies. A wide range of exhibits are located throughout the floors of the science center. Here is a glimpse of some of the various exhibits:

Chew On This: A large scale mouth in this exhibit that helps teach the truth about cavities, tartar and oral hygiene.

Spectrum: Explore electromagnetic spectrums, prisms, and the unique properties of light.

POP Bubble Experience: Create bubbles of all sizes and shapes, there is even a giant bubble you can climb inside.

Science of Flight: Build a paper airplane and learn about the science of flight while engineering and testing your planes ability to fly.

First Impression Room: Younger children will love this area, geared for children ages birth to four years old. For family’s convenience, there is a family restroom and private nursing room. This area has a water table, space area, light sensory station, puzzles, toys and books.

Build Zone: Tinker toys, blocks, and giant tubes will keep little builders busy.

Water Room:  Explore the wonders and power of water. Splash away with a large hands-on water table with shooters, spinning water funnels, channels, boats and balls that you can manipulate by water.

Certain exhibits travel and change throughout the year. While we were visiting, they had a unique Wild Kratts exhibit about different animals and their unique characteristics. This exhibit was only around for a limited time, which creates a new experience each time you visit.

Check their calendar throughout the year because they offer science camps, special events, STEM story times, and LAB. Memberships are available for families and individuals. They also participate in the reciprocal membership program with other museums and zoos like Airzoo in Kalamazoo, giving you 50% off your entrance ticket. Ideal place for school field trips and homeschool groups.
